Our programme of meetings 2018

All meetings take place at on the fourth Friday of the month, 10.30 - 12 noon at Kineton Village Hall, unless stated below.

January 27th - Sarah Coxall from Stratford Time Bank. Carers4Carers is an organisational member of the Time Bank. Sarah will explain how carers can benefit by becoming individual members.

February 23rd - Jas Kaur from the Warwickshire County Council team advising on Financial Assessment and Benefits will answer question carers have about finance and explain what to expect when booking respite and daycare breaks.

March 23rd - Paul Thompson will explain about the Five Ways to Wellbeing.

April 27th - Wellbeing Workshop with community artist, Penny Vigers

May 25th - Michael Howard, the service manager of the Warwickshire Carers' Wellbeing Service will describe what the service offers.

July 28th - a speaker from Act on Energy in Wellesbourne will give advice on home energy and also benefits and grants available.

August 25th - we'll be going out to coffee. Details to follow

September 22nd - no speaker this month but more time to support each other and for therapies

October 27th - details to be announced

November 24th - we will have a visit from a dietician

December 8th  (note change of date) - our seasonal meeting and our 5th birthday party!


January 27th - "Looking after yourself" talk with Harm Gordijn

February 24th - Karen Swan, drama facilitator, will be encouraging us to 'Let off Steam"

March 24th  - looking at developments in the "Care Companion" research project

April 28th - Debbie Anderson will be talking 'Legal Matters'

May 27th  - no speaker this month but more time to support each other and for therapies with Anita and Jasmin

June 23rd - Kate Allen is an occupational therapist and will introduce to various aids and adaptations available to promote independent living

March 24th - We will be looking at a new online resource tool currently being developed by a research team at Warwick Medical School.

February 24th  - Karen Swan will be with us to help us 'Let off Steam'

January 27th - Looking after yourselves with Harm Gordijn, Falls Prevention Co-ordinator at Heathcote Rehabilitation Hospital. 

December 9th - our Christmas meeting with seasonal refreshments, activities and music plus Anita's delightful therapeutic TLC. 

November 25th NO meeting

* November 23rd - a visit to Myton Hospice, Warwick. Members of the Companionship Group are invited to come with us and will have the use of the Day Hospice facilities where they will be able to enjoy their activities.  PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE - this meeting would normally have taken place on November 25th.  

October 28th - 'Letting off steam' with Karen Swan. Karen is a drama facilitator who worked with the National Citizen Service team of youngsters who helped us with our Afternoon Tea. She was so impressed the group that she offered to lead a short drama workshop for us. Don't worry, you won't be asked to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable!

* Sadly Karen has had to reschedule her visit this month and will now be coming to us next February. I am currently working on organising something for this meeting in her place. 




September 23rd - Heidi Portrey, Service User and Carer Involvement Officer with Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

August 26th - an informal meeting for carers and those they care for. We are off to the National Herb Centre, Warmington, for coffee and cake. 

July 22nd - Steve Kelly from Wiltshire Farm Foods will offer a tasting session of items from their range.

June 24th - Maggie Tink, from Myton Hospice, will be tell us about the services and care that the Hospice offers, including the key issues of looking after your loved one at home. 

May 27th - Kate Richmond, Head of Psychological Services at Age UK Warwickshire

April 22nd - a meeting without a speaker but a number of visitors! Len Mackin will be making a second visit, Ashley Trinder, the Independent Living Adviser for Stratford District Council will be on hand to offer advice on aids, and Joelle Loew, the research assistant working on the e-Treasure Chest project will be bringing us update on the latest developments of the project. Last but not least, enjoy a little TLC with one of Anita's relaxing mini massages.

March 18th - Len Mackin from Healthwatch Warwickshire will be discussing Mental Health services in the area.

February 26th - a meeting without a speaker. Richard, from Stratford CAB will be holding a "Benefits and Advice" surgery for any members that want to have a confidential consultation. Please contact Gillian to arrange an appointment. Anita will be offering her mini-massages.

January 22nd - Bob Church, the rural crime co-ordinator, will be offering advice on keeping us safe.

 June 26th - Maria Veitch from the Stratford Branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau

 July  24th - there will be no speaker at this meeting. Jasmine will be on hand to offer her lovely therapeutic treatments

 August 28th - we do not have a formal meeting this month but instead go out for coffee. Please contact us if you'd like to join us so that we can give you full instructions where to find us.

 September 25th - Jude, from Social Services will be with us.
